End of semester: the room has to be empty
Desk, bed, shelves: whatever is not coming with you, list it for free, to sell or to give away. Whoever takes it books a driver, who collects it at your door. What comes along, a driver takes to your new room.
What it costs you
Listing: free.
Selling: you keep the full price, paid out after the delivery.
Giving away: whoever takes it pays only the transport and the service fee.
Collection: the buyer books the driver, who comes to you.
So the room is empty in time
List things two to three weeks before you move out. Nobody can promise whether or when someone takes them.
Enter the day before you hand back the keys as the “Latest date”. After it nobody can book.
A photo in daylight and the measurements are enough. The measurements tell the buyer whether it fits through their door.
If you help carry it down, the driver often comes alone, and the transport is cheaper for the buyer.
What nobody takes
How selling works
- 1
List it
Photos, a title, the condition and your price. Also the floor and lift at the pickup address, when it can be picked up, and whether you help carry it down.
- 2
A buyer books
They buy the item and book the transport in one step. You confirm the date; until then their money is only reserved.
- 3
Pickup and payout
The driver picks it up from you at the agreed time. After the delivery your money is paid out; for that you set up a payout account with Stripe once.
Common questions
What does listing cost me?
Nothing. Listing is free, and you keep the full sale price. The buyer pays the transport and the service fee.
The room has to be empty on a fixed day. Does that work?
Enter that day as the “Latest date”. After it nobody can book, and whatever nobody has taken by then you can donate or give to the bulky-waste pickup.
Do I have to help carry?
You say so in the listing: “Do you help carry?” If you say yes, you carry the piece down with the driver. If you say no, the buyer comes along to the pickup or books “2 people”.
Can I give it away?
Yes. Mark it “To give away” in the listing. Whoever takes it books and pays the transport and the service fee; it costs you nothing.
And if nobody takes it?
Then lower the price or give it away. If it still stays, there is the bulky-waste collection of the Berliner Stadtreinigung.
When do I get my money?
After the delivery. For that you set up a payout account with Stripe once.
